Somebody kept on slamming their damn door this morning. It was unbearable. It was like bang, bang, bang, bang. Probably like once every minute. And you could tell it was coming from the same room.
We checked out at 10am and walked to get something to eat. We ended up at Alway’s Sunday. It is a cafeteria style restaurant where you go up to the counter and order your food and they put it on the tray. We ordered two Full Veggie Breakfasts and two coffees. (~18 pounds) The veggie bfasts have to be made in the kitchen but it only took about 10 minutes. We weren’t in a rush. For the coffee you got an individual French press. It was good coffee. Much better than train or airport coffee. The breakfast was “full” indeed. It came with: 2 veggie sausages, veggie haggis, scrambled eggs, toast, butter or Flora, tomato, mushroom & potato scone. Not only was it good and filling but there was no akward paying situation because you pay at the counter when you order.
Then we walked to the National Gallery of Scotland. They had a free “cloak” room so that was very very good. They had a lot of paintings. My favorite artist that they had was Titian. We tried to stay at the museum for as long as possible because we had a considerable amount of time till our train left but there only so much stuff you can do.
We decided to walk around Princes Garden (the old shit filled lake remember?) which is right next to the train station. We got some ice cream. All Pari was saying yesterday was “crema, crema, crema” even though helado is Spanish for ice cream. Pari likes to speak in Spanish to make me annoyed. She succeeds quite well. It was soo good. It came with a “flake” which we both thought was going to be better than expected. It wasn’t really a wafer, just a chocolate stick. It was good though. (4 pounds)
We still had about an hour and half till the train left so we sat in the train station. It looked like it was going to rain. Luckily we found a place to sit in the busy lobby area and waited to find out which platform we needed to go to. The train ride was bearable I guess. The train to Peterborough was soo hot. And it just gets hotter the more people get on.
I was so glad to get off of that train it was unbelievable. We walked the 1.5 miles or so back to Pari’s dorm, dropped off our luggage and then went to Regal Whetherspoon’s to get dinner. By this time is was almost 8 and we were starving. And once again the situation is confusing. This place is a bar but there is a ton of seating and there were waiters walking around. We sat for over 5 minutes and no one came to take our order so I just went up to the bar and ordered. Every dining experience has been strange. We both got a veggie burger, chips, and a side salad. (~11 pounds). I also came with a free drink. It was by no means a healthy option but it was really close and relatively cheap.
Random pictures of Edinburgh (sorry for any repeats)
I loved Edinburgh so much. It was so pretty and it had so much more life than Cambridge. I would definitely go back, I probably wouldn’t walk up the 287 steps again though.
